How I Make $80 per Day on YouTube
Growing a YouTube Channel
In 2023, a fitness athlete hired me to produce episodes about his life. I followed him during his workouts, tracked his diet and followed closely during his competitions. From 16 hour triathlons through the mountains in Utah to Obstacle Course Races in Dubai, we have had some adventures.
Last Year: 2023
Starting the year off, we tested many different types of episodes. I spent entire weeks producing content that barely got any attention. But of course, we continued to hustle until something went viral.
Our First Viral Video
In April, I filmed a race in Barcelona that became the top video on our channel. This 19min video amasses nearly 150k views, 1.1k likes and over 100 comments in under 6 months.
Learning from our successes was just as valuable as learning from our failures. We continued to refine our content to give our audience what they wanted to see.
Our Talk Show
At the beginning of the year we started a talk show / podcast, going live twice per week interviewing high level athletes from around the world. Viewership seemed to trickle upwards every week, but everything changed as soon as we invested in a studio.
You know you’re doing something right when more than one video goes viral. Carly was our first guest, gaining millions of views on a few highlight videos from the show.
And a short from our second guest is now our 2nd most viewed video on our YouTube channel.
More Views on YouTube
Summer was off-season for the athlete, giving us time to reflect. Unfortunately, our free trial ran out at the studio, so we resorted back to remote interviews. We tested a new tactic, reducing the number of long-form episodes and posting up to 8 shorts per day. Views went up, but our monetization did not.
YouTube Watch Hours
Come Fall, not only were we getting substantially more views, but we were also spending less time producing and slowed down our posting frequency because we finally knew what our audience wanted!
In 1 year, we in fact make over $80 on our best days from YouTube monetization. That being said, our goal is not to make money on YouTube at all. We actually have ads disabled within our videos, they only appear at the beginning.
Sponsorships
Our increased exposure on YouTube has helped us gain sponsorships including Red Bull, Puma, Represent247, GoBrewing, and many more! It also helped us grow our other businesses, selling online training and fitness supplements. In just 1 year it is safe to say that the athletes brand has increased by 5 million dollars.
